Good chance that this is because philosophers who should have been the first to remember have focused more on emulating scientists dreaming about some Nobel Prize rather than bridging the gaps between those who know and those who do not.
Challenge now is existential. Ironically, Elon Musk has already known that this is coming since some years ago. Quite a puzzle but can be explained — but then that is another story.
